Head Swim Coach
Hello! I am excited to return as head coach of the Granite Marlins. I grew up swimming for Granite and would later attend James Madison University where I would participate on the varsity swim team for 3 years. I have had the opportunity to coach several RMAL swim clubs and I have been with the Marlins since 2000. When not coaching summer swimming, I am employed by Chesterfield County Public Schools, where I teach 8th grade Social Studies at Tomahawk Creek Middle School. I also serve as the head coach for the Cosby High School men’s team. I have coached for year-round programs and has led swim clinics in the Richmond area. My wife, Sharon, and I are proud parents of three children (Hayden, Abby and Ellie). In his free time, I enjoy watching the Cowboys, Nationals and Celtics play.
Junior Assistant Coach
Lexi is returning to the coaching staff and is in her 14th year swimming as a Granite Marlin. She swam competitively year-round for Poseidon and swimRVA and is currently entering her sophomore year at UVA. She loves playing guitar and watching Friends. She has two siblings, one on the swim team and also serves on the coaching staff. She looks forward to coaching this year!
Hagan Aldridge is psyched to join the Granite coaching staff as well as return as a swimmer for his 11th Season. Hagan is a rising sophomore at Virginia Tech. He graduated from St. Christopher’s high school where he had the opportunity to swim during the winter and pursue his academic interests. When not in the water, Hagan enjoys video games such as Fortnite, spending time with friends and families, and late night dinners at Waffle House. Granite was Hagan’s start to swimming and looks forward to the opportunity to share his love of the sport with young swimmers.
Becca’s back! Becca Thompson starting coaching Granite in 2006. Unfortunately, she had to stop After the summer of 2017 when she became a 12-month Associate Principal in Chesterfield County. She will be helping in a limited capacity but JUMPED at the opportunity to be part of the coaching staff again! She grew up swimming for Bon Air in the summer and Poseidon year-round. She then went on the swim all four years at James Madison University before starting her career as a middle school math teacher. She taught math in Chesterfield for 12 years before moving into an administrative role. Becca is the proud mother of two children, Tripp (9) and Collins (5) who are both Marlin swimmers and her husband Carl. She is SUPER excited to be with all of you again and help all of our kids reach their swimming goals! #marlinforlife
